Crutches 4 Africa: mobility, delivered by hand
Devices collected here in the foothills are changing lives across the developing world.
Crutches 4 Africa — founded by polio survivor David Talbot — has now shipped over 125,000
crutches, walkers and wheelchairs, and Mountain Foothills members help fund the shipments
and prepare the devices with our own hands.
The club is collecting again this fall: crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs in usable
condition can be dropped at any Wednesday meeting. How the program works →
Ice Melt 2027: the barrel returns to Evergreen Lake
The town's favorite winter wager is coming back. When Evergreen Lake freezes, the barrel
goes out — and everyone guesses the date and time it drops through the spring ice. Ticket
locations and dates for the 2026–27 contest will be announced here soon.

Golf tournament drives another great year for INSPIRE
Sponsors, players and volunteers turned a July morning on the greens into real support for
EPRD's INSPIRE program, which serves more than 200 people with special needs in the
