We fundraise
Our fundraising helps Evergreen Parks & Recreation District's INSPIRE special needs program, Evergreen Christian Outreach (EChO), the Mountain Area Imagination Library, Rotary's Wildfire Readiness, Crutches 4 Africa, and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative — to name a few.
We volunteer
Mountain Foothills Rotarians pick up trash, sell Ice Melt tickets, load medical equipment into shipping containers for Crutches 4 Africa, host get-to-know-the-candidates evenings, donate dictionaries to local schools, and drive golf carts at the Andy Smith Sr. tournament so donors are never stranded.
We are social
Our club meets once a week, but there's no attendance requirement. Meetings happen at summer concerts, at restaurants that support local business, and sometimes over games. Everyone's invited to the bar or to dinner before and after Wednesday's 6:00 PM meeting. Having fun whenever and wherever we get together is the backbone of this club.
We network
Our members are insurance agents, lawyers, teachers, administrative assistants, brownie makers, business leaders, realtors, accountants, and a few happily retired people. No political affiliation, ages from early 30s to mid 80s, as many women as men — our goal is to cast the widest possible web of inclusion.
We are involved
When the community has a need, we step into the void: stuffing envelopes for other non-profits, making phone calls, standing in the cold with signs, ushering at events, giving financially when we can — and always giving of ourselves.
Signature causes
Evergreen Ice Melt Contest
Our signature winter tradition: a barrel goes out on frozen Evergreen Lake, and the town guesses the date and time it falls through the ice. Tickets run $3 to $100, sold at shops and rec centers around Evergreen, and every ticket supports local causes — including Resilience1220's counseling for young people.
Andy Smith Sr. INSPIRE Golf Tournament
Each July we take over the greens to fund EPRD's INSPIRE program, which opens recreation, sports and community to more than 200 people with special needs in the extended Evergreen area. Together with the Ice Melt, this tournament has helped the club contribute over $400,000 to INSPIRE and EChO.
Crutches 4 Africa
Founded by polio survivor David Talbot, Crutches 4 Africa has shipped over 125,000 crutches, walkers and wheelchairs to people in 29 countries. Mountain Foothills is a significant contributor — financially, and with our own hands, preparing devices for shipment. Have a device to donate? Bring it to any Wednesday meeting.
Resilience1220
Resilience1220 provides free and low-cost counseling for young people ages 12–20 in the mountain communities — because mountain kids deserve mountain-strong support. They are a beneficiary of Ice Melt proceeds.
End Polio Now
Rotarians worldwide have helped immunize over 2.5 billion children against polio, and this club is in until the disease is gone for good. It's personal here: our Crutches 4 Africa work serves polio survivors every year.
